My passions are the worlds of medicine and languages. In my years of training as a physician, I have encountered thousands of patients with Limited English Proficiency skills and have seen first-hand the linguistic and cultural barriers in medical care. I have also experienced the difference it makes to have a certified medical interpreter and professional medical translator on your team. You establish trust and obtain a complete medical history that guides you to the correct diagnosis, your patients receive the information and after-care instructions in their language and culture, and most of all, your patient’s safety is assured. It makes all the difference in the world!
With this concept in mind, I have created LanguageMD. The first of its kind, a language company that specializes in medicine. In a world where language companies claim to be masters of all types of industries, LanguageMD is what it states, a professional language company that specializes in medicine and the health sciences.
I have the experience and know-how necessary to cradle and create your project from start to finish. I have 30 years of experience working in medical interpreting and translations in various hospitals, including the largest translation companies in the US as a senior medical editor and linguistic validator. I am a Subject Matter Expert in medical interpretation and was hired as co-author by LanguageLine Services to write and develop their teaching course, Advanced Training for Medical Interpreters, a 300-page textbook for LanguageLine University. A couple of years later, I was hired to co-author and co-develop, along with a group of Subject Matter Experts, the clinical scenarios and examination questions for the National Certification Examination for Medical Interpreters, the new standard in the profession. In addition, I have served as Director for the National Board of Medical Interpreters. Your translation project is in the best hands!
